cozy comfort spot, great for lunch and burgers are amazing. personal favorite is a benedictine and bacon with tomato soup and sweet potato fries

This cute lunch spot is open for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, and I dropped in for dinner Saturday. I asked if their Granny Smith salad could have a salmon patty on it rather than chicken, and the friendly owner was courteous to accommodate my request, which turned out to be delicious! Shady Lane has its regulars for good reason; the staff are courteous and helpful, the ambiance is filled with character (including a 1958 picture of Marilyn Monroe eating a hamburger at a 1950s style drive-in restaurant), and the food is delicious. It's a perfect casual date spot or for dining alone. As for me, I sat next to the Marilyn Monroe picture and fantasized. Ha! I'm glad I stopped in for dinner. Whether it's dinner or lunch when you visit, I hope you will enjoy your meal and the Shady Lane Cafe atmosphere, should you decide to dine in rather than take out. Everyone I saw dining in or picking up to go orders had smiles on their faces. I now know why. Terrific service and food.

BEST BURGER I’VE EVER HAD...ALWAYS!! The burger pattie is the most flavorful meat. Simply made with love every time!! Always consistent! Dad said it’s the BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH HE’S EVER HAD! Fries always perfect and crispy...pies and brownies taste perfectly homemade! The best neighborhood joy...Carol and her staff are such a blessing to us!

The Shady Lane Veggie Growing up, I didn't have the opportunity to eat out often (unless grandma(s) was paying or a weekend club soccer tournament). Because of that, I was stuck at home consuming inedible Boca and Morning Star soy proteins - wondering if being plant based would ever become easier - little did I know!?!? All those soy proteins later then left me with a 27 year struggle of gut/organ health and autoimmune discomfort. Now that... is another story . I gladly took the opportunity to visit new ownership at SLC. The veg is still chock full of veggies. Brava - same Shady! Shout-out to Rach and her family who owned and ran SLC for all those years! Shady always believed in making their menu accessible for all dietary needs... not just when it became trendy. There really is something to say about the Louisville restaurants that began offering veg options - some 30 to 40 years ago. Don't get me wrong, bring on a funky new restaurant (as long as it has soul). But the classic Lou staples offering veg options will always have my heart

This is definitely a Gem! I started going last week and went 3 times. I order as much as I could think i could eat. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was Benedictine & Bacon it wasn't nasty just not my speed. It's a acquire taste. There are options for gluten free because I don't eat bread, wrap or in a bowl. The chicken salad was good and the grilled pimento and bacon was cheesy good. In the picture is the salmon burger, chef salad which is flavorful without dressing and the tuna melt on gluten free bread. All of them is 10/10. Customer service is 10/10 she is super nice and learn my name fast. She greets you when you come in. Definitely come early because the lines get long fast and they get busy.

Small Cafe with great food with excellent service. Order at the counter and the food is brought to you. Inside and outside seating. Highly recommended for a quick lunch.

I was running errands in the area and stopped in for lunch. What a great spot! The menu had a lot to choose from including signature sandwiches, soup of the day, salads, burgers, chicken sandwiches and desserts that looked fabulous! I had a fried chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken breast was a generous cut, breaded fresh and fried. The crinkle cut fries were done with a slight crunch and a nice potato flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by a visit from a regular guest named Henry, who was well mannered and comfortable at my feet. It was a perfect experience. Can’t wait to go here again!

Very cozy lunch spot. The food was good and fast. Staff was very friendly.
